At Sangam Surgery, we are pleased to offer a contraceptive implant service as part of our women’s health provision. The contraceptive implant is a small, flexible rod (about the size of a matchstick) that is inserted just under the skin of your upper arm. It releases a hormone called progestogen, which prevents pregnancy by stopping ovulation and thickening cervical mucus. The implant is over 99% effective and provides protection for up to 3 years, making it one of the most reliable forms of long-acting reversible contraception (LARC).
Our service includes implant insertions, removals, and replacements, all carried out by fully trained clinicians in a safe, comfortable setting. Before the procedure, we offer a full consultation to explain how the implant works, discuss any potential side effects, and help you decide if it’s the right choice for you.
There is no need to go to a hospital or family planning clinic – this specialist service is available right here at our GP surgery, making it quick and convenient to access. If you’re considering the implant or have questions about your contraceptive options, please contact our reception team to book an appointment.
